Considering they come from the smallest town in the Czech Extraliga, HC Litvinov has produced many star players and winning seasons. The club has sent 23 players to the NHL, four of which are Stanley Cup champions. The has also produced eight Olympic champions and 15 world champions (in total 23 gold medals), plus three more as coaches. Famous names include Ivan Hlinka, after whom their home arena is named, Jiří Bubla, Vladimír Růžička, Jiří Šlégr and Martin Ručinský. Over the last 56 years, the team has continuously remained in the top Czechoslovak and Czech leagues, finishing second in 1978, 1984, 1991 and 1996 before finally winning their first national championship in 2015.
