CHL News
After Tuesday's action, which included several very dramatic finishes, the field of teams competing for the European club hockey championship is now down to eight: Linkoping HC, Skelleftea AIK, Lukko Rauma, Lulea Hockey, Karpat Oulu, SaiPa Lappeenranta, Frolunda Gothenburg and IFK Helsinki.
The original playoff match-ups and bracket were determined at the CHL Playoff Draw in Helsinki on 10 October. The teams listed first in the four match-ups are the higher-seeded teams, as determined by their total records from the group stage and eighth-finals combined (teams are awarded three points for a win and one point for a tie in the playoffs). If the two teams are tied in points, the team with the better goal difference is the higher seed. The higher-seeded team has the advantage of playing the second game – including any overtime or shootout – at home.
The quarter-finals are scheduled for 2 and 9 December, but dates may vary according to arena availability. Likewise, arena availability could affect which teams begin at home.
The exact quarter-final schedule will be announced shortly.
