Krefeld Pinguine and Vitkovice Ostrava need to win.
Both the Krefeld Pinguins and Vitkovice Ostrava are playing their second games in Group E tonight. In their first attempts, both teams came up with spirited efforts against powerful Karpat Oulu but didn't earn any points. With Karpat virtually assured to be one of the two teams moving on, this game could go a long way to decide who will join them.
Krefeld want to match the effort from Thursday, but have better finish around the net – on Thursday they were shut out 2-0. Vitkovice out-shot Karpat but two quick goals against in the second period were their downfall. This game they will want to make sure they play a full 60 minutes without any lapses. If they play their game, they figure they can be successful.
"Personally, we don't know much about them, but I will prepare as for any other game. I look forward to getting a second start in the CHL. If we observe all instructions from the coaches, we can take home points from Krefeld points, which we want," said goaltender Patrik Bartosak, who stopped 18 or 21 shots in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Karpat, with one goal being an empty-netter.
"Czech teams are always very strong. That is going to be an interesting encounter," said Krefeld head coach Franz Fritzmeier ahead of the game.
