Red Bull Munich saw out their final CHL group stage game with a dominating performance over Orli Znojmo, who were on the wrong end of a 7-0 thrashing in Bavaria.

The opening period remained scoreless until just over four minutes to play, when Jonathan Matsumoto opened the scoring for Munich. It was, however, in the second period where the Red Bulls made the most of their dominance – Dominik Kahun opening the scoring with 41 seconds played, followed just over two minutes later by veteran Michael Wolf to make it 3-0 with only 22:46 gone. Jerome Flaake added number four for the home side with 34:29 played to give them a commanding lead after 40 minutes.

With nothing to play for but pride in the final period, things didn't get better for Znojmo. Tobias Woerle added Munich's fifth just shy of the 50-minute mark, before Derek Joslin's shot through traffic found its way into the next some 60 seconds later to make it six. Brooks Macek rounded off the scoring at 54:11 when he raced through shorthanded to condemn Znojmo to a 7-0 thrashing in the final game of their CHL adventure this season.

"That was painful," Znojmo coach Jiri Reznar said after. "The first period we played very well, practically made ​​no mistakes or errors, but in the second 20 we just piled on one mistake after another and they punished us. When they scored their fifth goal, we got frustrated, but that's not an excuse. We have to play disciplined throughout the game."

Red Bull Munich end the group stage level on points with Fribourg, but the Swiss team takes top spot due to having a better aggregate score over the Bavarians.

"This was a big win in front of our fans at the end of the preliminary round. We are excited about our next opponent in the knockout phase of the Champions League," Munich coach Don Jackson stated.
