It is with great sadness the Champions Hockey League received the news about the passing of Soren Stockfisch, general manager of Danish champions SonderjyskE Vojens, peacefully on Saturday morning at the Hospice Haderslev in Denmark, after a brave battle with cancer.

Stockfisch had been GM of SonderjyskE since 2003 and under his guidance the team won six national titles, including the last three in a row. The club battled hard against some tough teams in last year's Champions Hockey League and Stockfisch was looking forward to doing so again.
“It was a huge challenge for us last year. I think we did well. It will be strong teams again. We are ready for a challenge and we are looking forward to the CHL experience,” he said in May at this year's CHL Draw in Prague.
The team will undoubtedly battle hard again this year in his honour.
Stockfisch's duties in the club will be taken over jointly by head coach Dan Ceman and chairman Klaus B. Rasmussen, who will share the duties of general manager on an interim basis.
The Champions Hockey League sends its heartfelt condolences to Soren's family: wife Mette and children Sille, Casper and Kristina, as well as to the entire SonderjyskE organisation.
