So far, we know 17 of the 32 teams who will compete in the 2019/20 edition of the Champions Hockey League. Three more teams will be added this week – two from Finland and one from Sweden.

In Finland, Kärpät Oulu have run away with the Liiga regular season, but the race for second and third places is much tighter. With two games to go, Tappara Tampere, Pelicans Lahti, TPS Turku and HPK Hämeenlinna are all in the hunt. Two of those teams will qualify by the end of the week, with Tappara and the Pelicans potentially qualifying on Tuesday night.
The Swedish Hockey League is also down to its last two game days, and with three teams qualified, we will have a fourth joining them at the end of the regular season. Djurgården Stockholm, Växjö Lakers and Skellefteå AIK are all in the running, with Djurgården holding a two-point lead over the others.
The other four founding leagues have finished their regular seasons and each has one more qualifying spot from the playoffs. Those won’t come this week, however.
Last week in Switzerland, EHC Biel-Bienne and Lausanne HC both qualified for the first time. If either of those teams, SC Bern or EV Zug win the title, we’ll have a third new Swiss qualifier – HC Ambrì-Piotta.
It was a busy final couple of game days in the Czech Extraliga, with three teams qualifying. The fourth team to come from the Czech Republic will be the champion, and if that’s Bílí Tygři Liberec, Oceláři Třinec or HC Pilsen, then Mountfield HK will re-qualify.
In the DEL playoffs, if Adler Mannheim or Red Bull Munich become champions, then the Augsburg Panther will become a CHL qualifier for the first time.
Likewise, Austria has two teams qualified with one to go, as the pick round is over and it’s time for the playoffs to start. The EBEL has qualified two teams so far with one to go – the league champion. If either the Vienna Capitals or Graz 99ers win the title, the remaining CHL spot will go to KAC Klagenfurt.
