Time to look at Matchup 2 of the 'Best Goal Voting' - Zaťovič vs. Miele.
Czech forward Martin Zaťovič came as Kometa Brno beat Stavanger Oilers in overtime. In fact, if the were an award for "Assist of the season" then goalie Marek Čiliak would probably get it. His long pass set up the 33-year-old perfectly for the 1-on-0, who rarely missed from that position. Zaťovič came up through the ranks in his home town of Prerov, before moving to Karlovy Vary. After winning the Extraliga with the team in 2008/09, he would go on to captain the team in the 13/14 season. Two years in the KHL with Lada Togliatti followed from 2014-2016, before Zaťovič returned to the Czech Republic with Brno.
US-born forward Andy Miele is in his first season with the Malmö Redhawks. Coming through Miami University (Ohio), he was given en entry level contract by the Arizona (Phoenix, at the time) Coyotes, and would go on to play 15 games in the NHL - though never scoring a goal. Most of Miele's time was spent in the AHL with the Portland Pirates, before spending two seasons in Grand Rapids and then a further one in Lehigh Valley. After 420 AHL games and 368 points, Miele switched last summer to the SHL with the Redhawks. So far he's put up 26 points in just under 40 games in the league, with 3+2 as the Redhawks made it to the CHL Round of 16. His nominated goal came as the Redhawks went 3-1 up in Stavanger back in the group stage.
