The Champions Hockey League, together with long-standing partner Warrior Sports, is expanding its sustainability efforts. Starting with the 2025/26 season, all teams and game officials will wear jerseys made entirely from sustainable, recycled materials.
This initiative follows the successful introduction of sustainable jerseys worn by Genève-Servette throughout the 2024/25 season, as well as their use by ZSC Lions Zurich and Färjestad Karlstad in the 2025 CHL Final. In addition to the player and game official jerseys, all fan jerseys will also be made from 100% sustainable materials.
“As a company deeply rooted in the heart of ice hockey and a proud supplier of the Champions Hockey League jerseys, we are incredibly excited about this significant step towards a more sustainable future for our sport,” said Matthias Wolf, General Manager at Warrior Sports. “This isn't just about producing high-performance sportswear; it's about acknowledging our responsibility to the environment and demonstrating that sustainability and top-tier athletic performance can go hand in hand. We believe that even small changes can make a big difference, and we are immensely proud to partner with the Champions Hockey League in driving this positive change across the entire European ice hockey community.”
“Building on the successful initial phase with our trusted partner Warrior Sports and the participating clubs, we’re proud to now introduce sustainable jerseys across the entire CHL,” said Jörgen Lindgren, CHL President. “Having all teams and game officials wear jerseys made from 100% recycled materials — and offering the same to fans — marks a significant milestone in our long-term sustainability strategy. This initiative reflects our commitment to reducing the environmental impact of professional hockey. We believe that by integrating sustainability in our daily work and doing, we can inspire positive change and lead by example.”
The sustainable jersey from Warrior Sports is made from 100% polyester, produced using recycled yarn containing plastic recyclate. This material is carefully monitored and certified according to international standards, such as the Global Recycled Standard and OEKO-TEX, ensuring environmental responsibility. The printing on the jerseys is done with environmentally friendly Italian water-based inks. After use, the plastic ink canisters are recycled to ensure reuse. A special paper made in Germany, meeting high quality and environmental standards, is used in the printing process. The parts of the hockey jersey are stitched with threads made from recycled polyester. The sustainable jersey is produced in Czechia, within the European Union, which maintains high standards of quality and sustainability.
