The final press conference ahead of the Champions Hockey League Final tomorrow evening took place today in the Catena Arena in Ängelholm, the venue of the CHL Final.
Tappara Tampere Head Coach Jussi Tapola, Tappara team captain Otto Rauhala, Rögle Ängelholm Head Coach Cam Abbott and Rögle team captain Mattias Sjögren were all present at the event and gave us their thoughts ahead of the biggest game of the season.
Jussi Tapola took to the microphone first, assuring us that "Everybody is ready - we have a full roster for the Final," adding that Tappara "also have a couple of new players that have strengthened our team as well.”
Tapola is excited for tomorrow's game: "It’s going to be a huge game tomorrow, I’m expecting a tough game."
What has been the key to their success this season?
"It hasn’t been easy this season, but winning important games has been the key," he said.
And what do they need to do in order to beat Rögle in the Final?
"We have to put a lot of pressure on Rögle and play our own game," adding that they need to: "skate hard and score when we have the chance.“
Up next was Tappara captain Otto Rauhala, who is excited to play in the CHL Final.
"We are really excited, it’s really nice to play in a game like this," he said.
His thoughts about the game?
"It’s going to be a fast game, Rogle will definitely skate fast like Swedish teams do."
Rögle Ängelholm Head Coach Cam Abbott took the mic next.
"We are prepared, excited and ready for the game," he started.
"We have been preparing for this game through the course of the season, from game one."
"Tappara are a team we haven’t faced yet so we’ve been trying to pass on a bit more information to the players," he said, “but not too much."
Rögle team captain Mattias Sjögren was the last to speak.
"It’s very special, we have proved to everyone that we are a very strong team," he said.
He's especially excited to be playing in front of his own fans, saying: "It’s fantastic to play in front of our own fans, their support is amazing. They are going to be loud and we like them when they are loud.”
