The Champions Hockey League returns for 2022 with two back-to-back Semi-Finals First Game duels.
Starting off the new year's action is the clash of the top two SHL teams of the 2021/22 CHL season, as Rögle Ängelholm host Frölunda Gothenburg on Tuesday 4 January at 19:00 CET.
Knockout hockey has been Rögle's strong suit against four-time CHL Champions Frölunda, as the Ängelholm based club cruised past their opponents from Gothenburg into the SHL playoff semi-finals last season, beating them 4-0 straight and making it all the way to the final.
But never count Frölunda out - the CHL veterans have turned around seemingly impossible situations over the years and their pedigree on Europe's biggest stage is hard to dispute. This is going to be a crucial game for both sides, one that will set the stage for the Return Game next Tuesday.
Our second duel starts at 20:30 when Red Bull Munich will welcome Tappara Tampere in Bavaria. The Germans will make their second Semi-Finals appearance in five seasons, whilst Tappara will make their very first in six.
Don't forget that the score over the two games is combined to create the aggregate score which determines which team will advance to the next round, so if your team loses tonight, they're not out of contention for a place in the Final!
