With teams having headed back to action in their own leagues after last week’s Champions Hockey League Quarter-Final first games, we see how they got on.
Oceláři Třinec and Kometa Brno only played one game over the weekend, both on Friday night. The latter took a comfortable 4-1 home win over Boleslav, while Třinec were beaten by lowly Jihlava 1-0 in overtime. The two sides however remain fourth and fifth in the Extraliga respectively. Bílí Tygři Liberec’s difficult season continued with a 4-1 defeat in Olomouc on Sunday night, but it was only their first defeat in three.
In Switzerland SC Bern got their first National League win in three with an OT Saturday night. ZSC Lions on the other hand had a very disappointing weekend, losing both games and conceding five in each – including to rivals, and last in the table, Kloten.
Up in Sweden Växjö continue to lead thanks to two straight wins. Brynäs are also seeing a change in fortunes after a poor start – six straight wins, and victories over the weekend in which they scored six goals in both, sending them into the CHL return game with confidence.
Lastly in Finland, JYP Jyväskylä only played one game since their CHL outing. The only Liiga outfit left in the CHL won over Lahti to keep them just inside the Top 6.
