For two lucky Fan Ambassadors this is the game they've been waiting for all season - the chance to see their team play in the Champions Hockey League Final. But who's going to win it? We asked them both to suggest reasons why!
What is your team’s key quality? Why will they win the Champions Hockey League?
Rebecca Gordon (Frölunda Indians): We have a good team who work very hard together. They have the desire to win, and proved they know how to do it. We have only one goal in this tournament, and it is to win!
Philipp Förster (Red Bull Munich): Compared to the Indians we are clearly the underdogs - but the underdogs always have the biggest advantage, as they can prove everyone wrong. To quote myself from the interview we did on Facebook at the Feature game in Munich: "From now on, we can make it anywhere!"
Who should fans look out for?
Rebecca: Red Bull Munich should watch out for Ryan Lasch. He is fast, small, shoots very well and he is effective. Do we really need to say more about this Champions Hockey League legend?
Philipp: I recommend keeping an eye on Konrad Abeltshauser - his huge size gives him away! The defenseman instinctively knows where the puck has to be, he's a beast with both assists and goals, and his blueline shots always hit the right spot.
Why do you have the best fans in Europe?
Rebecca: We support the team no matter what, win or lose. The fans are cheering and chanting for our team, and doing our best to distract the opponents! We travel around Sweden and Europe to show that we love our team.
Philipp: Hockey in Munich has had a lot of names over the years, and just like that our fans have a lot of diversity and tradition. From the mid to late 60’s with the FC Bayern Munich as the ice hockey department of Munich, then known as Hedos and Barons in the 90’s, until today, as EHC Red Bull Munich, the fans have stuck by the team through all their ups and downs. Not only do we enjoy watching hockey, but also playing this beautiful sport. We even have our own, well organised recreational league (with three divisions) in and around Munich, where we get to play fans against other fans.
