Oceláři Trinec and Adler Mannheim are the two teams in the best position to advance from Group D, as both can secure their places in the Round of 16 by winning on the road on Tuesday. If they fail to do so, they will each get another chance at it at home the following week. Swedish champs HV71 Jönköping can still control their own destiny as well but their task is more difficult, as they almost certainly need to win their two remaining games. Esbjerg Energy are playing for pride at this point – they're not going to the next round, but they could play the role of spoilers.

What's at stake:
Třinec
- will clinch with a win in Jönköping on Tuesday, either in regulation or in extra time.
- If they don't get the necessary 2 points this week, they will have another chance at home on Gameday 6.
- In order to finish 1st in the group, they will have to get more points than Mannheim over the last two games, as Die Adler hold the tiebreaker by out-scoring them 6-5.
Mannheim
- will clinch with a point in Esbjerg on Tuesday.
- could also clinch with any result (even a regulation loss), as long as HV71 do not get more points than them. Mannheim hold the tie-breaker with HV71 by winning both head-to-head meetings.
- will clinch 1st place in the group with a regulation win combined with a Třinec regulation loss. Mannheim hold the tie-breaker with Třinec by out-scoring them 6-5 in their head-to-head meetings.
HV71
- need at least 5 points from the two upcoming meetings with Třinec to advance, or 4 points combined with two Mannheim regulation losses.
- must beat Třinec in some form at home on Tuesday, or at least take more points than Mannheim, to stay alive for Gameday 6.
