Ahead of the start of the upcoming Champions Hockey League season, we asked the Head Coaches of the Växjö Lakers' six Regular Season opponents what their thoughts are on the Swedish team - here's what they had to say!
Eisbären Berlin Head Coach Serge Aubin: “The Växjo Lakers have won the Swedish title multiple times. It’ll be a challenge to play against them in their arena. Like many Swedish teams, the Lakers are a difficult opponent.”
Sheffield Steelers Head Coach Aaron Fox: “Växjö are always a top Swedish club and we know the Swedes have won the CHL more than any other country. They play very structured and I think they’ll be one of our hardest tests of the competition. We will have to be ready for the tough travel coming from Switzerland with no training in between games and an early game time as well. Should test our fitness levels very early in the campaign.”
Oceláři Třinec Head Coach Zdeněk Moták: "The second weekend in the CHL will be extremely important for us. Two quality opponents will come to Třinec and we will want to do well in front of our home crowd. I expect Växjö to be a very well-equipped opponent in terms of skating and technical skills.”
Storhamar Hamar Head Coach Petter Thoresen: “The Växjö Lakers are one of the absolute top teams in Sweden and, in that regard, one of the top teams in Europe. They have a solid core in their team with lots of experience. We look forward to testing our strength against them!”
Red Bull Salzburg Head Coach Oliver David: “Yet another solid and highly competitive European club. It’s always cool to play a hockey game in Sweden, one of the homes of the world elite in ice hockey. We are getting nothing less this time at Växjö. I’m pumped for this one!”
Ilves Tampere Head Coach Tommi Niemelä: “Växjö are a very fast and skilled team. That will make the game great to follow – skillful teams with a lot of speed clashing against each other.”
