Ahead of the start of the upcoming Champions Hockey League season, we asked the Head Coaches of ERC Ingolstadt's six Regular Season opponents what their thoughts are on the German team - here's what they had to say!
Färjestad Karlstad Head Coach Tomas Mitell: “German teams are always a hard nut to crack – they play with grit and determination regardless of the opposition. I don’t know so much about the specific players on the team, but in general, German teams are always tough.”
Växjö Lakers Head Coach Jörgen Jönsson: “This is a team I don’t know much about to be honest. Of course, they had a really good season last year and have some names that I recognize. German teams always have high morale and always work hard.”
Vítkovice Ridera Head Coach Miloš Holaň: “Similar to Munich, Ingolstadt also have a lot of players from North America. They had a really successful season last year. German hockey is hard and tough so I think we can expect the same style from Ingolstadt too. They are going to be a very tough opponent!”
Rouen Dragons Head Coach Fabrice Lhenry: “ERC Ingolstadt are a team that reached the playoff finals of the DEL last season and had a very good regular season. They’ve got one of the best defenses in the DEL and many experienced players in their squad.”
Red Bull Salzburg Head Coach Oliver David: “Ingolstadt had an impressive 2022/23 season in the DEL and qualified for the CHL. To have the chance to compete against a championship-caliber opponent like them is what this competition is all about.”
Dynamo Pardubice Head Coach Václav Varaďa: “Last season they were close to winning the DEL. They have many foreign players in their squad. Ingolstadt are good finishers and leave everything out on the ice.”
