Michal Bulíř (#88) of Bili Tygri Liberec, time approximately 26:51, was involved in an incident deemed as Charging (IIHF Rule 122). The video evidence was sent to the CHL Player Safety Committee (PSC), which determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline - Category 1 – ‘Careless’.
According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence and ruling of the CHL PSC, player Michal Bulíř (#88) of Bili Tygri Liberec will receive supplementary discipline under rule 122 – Charging.
From the perspective of the CHL Sports Board, Michal Bulíř (#88) made contact to the opposing player causing an apparent injury. As the video shows, the puck is passed from behind the net to the area of the opposing player. The opposing player did chip the puck ahead but did not have possession or control. Michal Bulíř (#88) made a choice to body check in a manner deemed excessive (charging). With no regard for the puck and excessive contact to an opposing player who may have been suspecting but had no possibility to prepare or protect himself. Michal Bulíř (#88) did have time to let up or alter contact.
It was also taken into consideration, approximately 2.5 minutes before, Michal Bulíř (#88) was checked, in a manner the CHL Disciplinary Board determined legal. In a game/period where player emotions were high, the cause of Michal Bulíř (#88) to deliver an excessive check may have been retaliatory in nature.
The CHL Sports Board suspends Michal Bulíř (#88) of Bílí Yygři Liberec for one game, effective immediately, and receives a fine of €600.
