It’s the first trip into the Champions Hockey League Semi-Finals for Oceláři Třinec this year, and the team from the northeast of the Czech Republic has been helped throughout the tournament by some seriously solid goaltending.
Netminder Šimon Hrubec leads the CHL with a save percentage of 96.47 over nine games. He’s started in eight of his team’s wins, losing only one game so far this season in the competition. With two shutouts and an average of 0.99 goals against per game, the "Steelers" know they’re always in the game when Hrubec is in net.
"It’s a great honour to be nominated. Obviously, I’m very happy that we reached Semi-Finals but this is another confirmation of our success in the CHL. There are other members of our team who would deserve it too, but the jury chose me and I appreciate it immensely."Šimon Hrubec
Hrubec has pulled off a number of big saves during this year’s CHL, but most will remember the one against Brynäs IF in the Quarter-Finals!
