Few players get the chance to play for a trophy, and even fewer get to do it in a one-off showdown to be crowned the best team in Europe.
In 2018/2019, Red Bull Munich broke a number of records for German teams in the Champions Hockey League. They were only the second team from the DEL to reach the Round of 16, and then went on to be the first German side to reach the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and then contest a CHL Final. While they eventually fell to Frölunda, it was an historic season for the Bavarian team that put them very much on the map as contenders for the European trophy every season.
