In the aftermath of the CHL Playoff Draw, representatives from several of the remaining teams expressed their thoughts on their Round of 16 opponents. 

EV Zug (SUI) vs Red Bull Munich (GER)

Dan Tangnes (Head Coach, Zug): “We’re happy and proud that we’re through to the playoffs and we look forward to playing Munich. We know they’re a tough opponent and they’ve been really successful in the German league. It’s gonna be tough but we’ll be ready for them.”
 

Malmö Redhawks (SWE) vs SC Bern (SUI)

Peter Andersson (Head Coach, Malmö): “Bern are a top team in Swiss hockey and one of the teams who have been successful for many years.” About going head to head against his own son, Calle Andersson: “It's gonna be fun, we talked about it already last season. Malmö is his hometown and he wants all the best for the team, but maybe not in these games.”

Kari Jalonen (Head Coach, Bern): “Malmö are one of the top teams in the SHL. The Redhawks performed very well in the first part of this season, in their league and also in the CHL. To play them is a big challenge for us. It is also special from another point of view, as Malmö head coach will meet his son, our defenceman Calle Andersson.”
 

Kärpät Oulu (FIN) vs ZSC Lions Zurich (SUI)

Harri Aho (Director of Hockey Operations, Kärpät): “The Zurich Lions will be a tough opponent and a very good challenge for us. I believe that we have a good chance of advancing if we play our own game, and that is our goal.”

Sven Leuenberger (General Manager, Zurich): “Oulu are one of the best remaining teams and will be a huge challenge for us. They currently lead the Finnish league, what says a lot about the tremendous quality of the squad.”
 

Red Bull Salzburg (AUT) vs Rouen Dragons (FRA)

Matthias Trattnig (Captain, Salzburg): “It's an exciting Draw because we have a team from a completely different league with the Rouen Dragons. I still remember the previous games, even it is a long time ago. Now the situation is new, the Dragons have a long tradition in Rouen. So I'm not surprised – even if you see how the French national team is performing – that they made it to the Round of 16. It’s a new challenge for us, but we also have a chance to move to the next round.”

Fabrice Lhenry (Head Coach, Rouen): “We are satisfied with this Draw. With all the respect we have for the Austrian league and the Salzburg club, we feel that this is our best chance to continue our great adventure in this prestigious competition. Participating in the CHL playoffs is important for the Rouen club but also for all of French hockey. We will be the ambassadors of the Ligue Magnus to show that the level is increasing year by year. Confronting and competing against other well-known leagues helps showcase French hockey.”
 

Frölunda Indians (SWE) vs HC Lugano (SUI)

Greg Ireland (Head Coach, Lugano): As a team, we are very excited to have the great challenge of playing not only one of the best teams in Sweden, but also in all of Europe. It's an honour to advance to the final 16 of the CHL. Now we must raise our game to meet the challenge.”
 

Skellefteå AIK (SWE) vs Storhamar Hamar (NOR)

Fredrik Söderström (Head Coach, Storhamar): “Skellefteå is a huge challenge for us. They are one of the biggest Swedish clubs and played in the SHL finals last year. We are going to be prepared for an inspiring challenge and I know that our players like big challenges.”
 

HC Pilsen (CZE) vs HC Bolzano (ITA)

Ladislav Čihák (Head Coach, Pilsen): “First of all, we are very pleased to be in the Champions League playoffs, and we appreciate drawing an opponent that is not too far away, geographically. Bolzano will be a tough team to play against. I don’t believe either of the teams is particular favourites. I believe we will see an interesting and fair series.”

Kai Suikkanen (Head Coach, Bolzano): “I don't know much about Pilsen, but they've won all the matches in their group and they're doing well in their league too, so they're a great team for sure. At this point, you can only meet first-rate teams. We’re travelling a lot lately, so it's also important for us that the trip will not be too long and we don't have to fly to Finland or Sweden. Anyway, we will study them on video and we will be ready. It will be a great battle for sure.”
