Just over 24 hours before the 2019 Champions Hockey League Final, the Captains and Head Coaches from both teams took part in a pre-game Press Conference.
Final hosts Joel Lundqvist and Roger Rönnberg from Frölunda Indians were joined on stage at the Scandinavium by Michael Wolf and Don Jackson.
"We think we’re ready,” began Indians Head Coach Roger Rönnberg. “We have a few small injuries but everyone is ready to play. We’ve done our homework on Munich for sure, they’re a really well-coaches team and play their structure very comfortably.”
Captain Joel Lundqvist added “It’s very special to play a final like this. We’re very proud to be here – some players never get to play in games like this, so to play a one-off, championship-deciding game at home is very hard to beat.”
Red Bull Munich arrived in Gothenburg on Monday afternoon, ready for their chance at winning both their own and Germany's first ever CHL title. "We know that every time the puck goes deep, Frölunda are sprinters on the fore-check. It'll be a really competitive game with battles all over the ice," said Head Coach Don Jackson, who was then asked about the injuries to Maxi Kastner and LGT Top Scorer John Mitchell. "It means other players will have a chance to step up. They have in the pass, and while we miss these two players, we have guys who are really capable elsewhere in the team."
"We had a lot of new players at the start of the season, it took us a while to get going, but now we know how to win and I hope we can take it into tomorrow. We know they have a pretty good and fast team, it'll be a quick game against them," added Red Bulls Captain Michael Wolf, who will retire at the end of this season. "It would be pretty nice to win the CHL and end that way, but I don't think about my own career now. I hope the team can do it. We know ourselves that we can win this trophy."
