- It's a winner takes all clash when between Liberec and Augsburg
- Augsburger Panther sit second in Group C on nine points
- Must win game for Liberec who are third with six points
It truly is a winner takes it all clash when Bílí Tygři Liberec host the Augsburger Panther with only one qualification spot left in Group C. Liberec need a regulation win in front of their home crowd, while just a point will do for Augsburger in their debut season in the Champions Hockey League.
Liberec enter Game Day six with six points from five games, and need a big performance on Wednesday to advance. Just two seasons ago the Czech side made it all the way to the semi-finals but now they risk missing the playoffs for just the second time in their five CHL appearances. When the two sides met last week in Germany, Liberec kept their playoff dreams alive with a shootout victory, and it’s poised to be another close game. Libor Hudáček wasn’t able to find the back of the net in the first meeting between the two sides, but with five-goals in the CHL already this season, he’ll be a key part of the Liberec attack to try and advance to the next round.
For Augsburger, if they can put up another strong defensive performance they’ll see themselves through. A point will do for them to get through to the playoffs in their first attempt as they continue to enjoy an impressive debut season in the CHL. While they have reliable defense starting from goalie Olivier Roy but they’ll be fully aware of the threat Liberec pose so they’ll once again be turning to Matthew Fraser in attack, who’s six goals on the campaign are tied for the tournament lead.
