With the fight for top spot in Group C of this years Champions Hockey League close with four teams all with four points, Augsburger Panther and Luleå Hockey meet for the second time to gain an advantage midway through the Group Stage.
In the first meeting in Luleå, it was the visitors who left with a win, taking two points thanks to a shootout winner from Simon Sezemsky after a goal from Matt Fraser late in the third period forced overtime. Fraser followed this performance up with a two-goal performance against the Belfast Giants to secure another two points in overtime. Both of the teams netminders Olivier Roy and Markus Keller have performed well in goal with both goalies playing in one game each, Head Coach Tray Tuomie will have two solid options to use to defend the attack of their opponents who impressed in their second game of the campaign.
Luleå picked up a single point in the loss to Augsburger, but picked up three in a convincing regulation win against Czech side Bílí Tygři Liberec which saw the Swedish side skate away with a 4-1 victory, with four goals from four different skaters. Netminder Joel Lassinantti stopped 20 of 21 shots in the victory, and will look to repeat his performance on Friday night. Defenseman Jesper Sellgren currently leads the team in points with a goal in the victory over Liberec, as well as two assists on the campaign, and he'll be one of the key players to watch out for as Luleå look to make it two-straight wins to take control of Group C.
