- GKS Tychy have never won on Game Day 1
- Djurgården Stockholm want to prove themselves on Europe's top stage
- Tychy’s only win last season was at home
Djurgården Stockholm begin their hunt for European success in the CHL with a very tough away game against GKS Tychy. The club have very openly stated they want to become a top club once again and can be seen as favourites coming into this tie. All isn’t as straight forward as it first seems though, as Tychy put up very good performances and proved to be a very tough opponent in last season’s CHL both home and away, despite finishing last in their Group in 2018/19. Their physical presence and no-compromise style of play proved to be a challenge for many teams and their performances were better and better as they got to grips with the competition.
Both clubs have never played each other, but last season Tychy faced fellow SHL team Skellefteå AIK and suffered heavy defeats both home and away (agg. score 3-14). One last thing to take into consideration is the fact that Tychy are known for having very loud and supportive fans that give their team that extra gear they will most probably need facing Djurgården, so the home advantage is definitely a key factor in this tie.
