- Djurgården won 6-2 in Tychy on Gameday 1
- Both teams lost on Friday
- Djurgården enter the game with 6 points, Tychy with 1
These two teams met back on Gameday 1 with Djurgården Stockholm going into Tychy and winning 6-2. Although GKS Tychy got the first goal, the firepower of the Swedish team was just too much for them, with 17-year-old prospect Alexander Holtz scoring twice.
Since that first game, Djurgården have won and lost games against the Vienna Capitals and now sit second in Group F with six points. That’s not bad, but they’ll be disappointed with their 6-3 loss to Vienna on Friday night and want to atone for that with a better effort on home ice. Their top two scorers are forward Michael Haga and defenceman Linus Hulström, who each interestingly have no goals and four assists. Holtz and Sebastian Strandberg each have two goals.
It’s not really a surprise that Tychy are in tough in this group, but they did manage a point in a 3-2 overtime loss at home to Adler Mannheim. The return game in Mannheim on Friday night was a different story and they were shut out 5-0. They’d like a better result in Stockholm, but unfortunately, they’re facing a team that can’t afford to give away points. The only player they have with multiple points is forward Michael Szamtula with a goal and an assist.
