- 2017/18 CHL Semi-Finalists Liberec on brink of elimination
- Battle of the sharpshooters: Matthew Fraser (6 goals) vs Libor Hudáček (5 goals)
- Augsburger Panther picked up 4 points from 2 home CHL games
Group C looks like it could be going down to the wire, but Augsburger Panther are looking to secure qualification to the Playoffs with a regulation win against Czech club Bílí Tygři Liberec.
Augsburger Panther have been one of the shocks of the CHL so far. Backed by fervent supporters who have made their mark on the road and at the Curt-Frenzel-Stadion, the German side will be looking to make the Round of 16 in their debut CHL season. Augsburg currently sit in 2nd place in Group C, after amassing a 3-1 record. Three of their games have gone to overtime, showing how competitive Group C has been. Matthew Fraser has been the star of the show, as the Canadian has found the back of the net 6 times in 7 games. Der Panther will be looking to turn around their shaky domestic form, as the club comes into their Game Day 5 clash having won one of their last four games.
In contrast, Bílí Tygři Liberec have hit the ground running in the Czech Extraliga. They are tied on points at the top of the table and will be looking to bring that form into the CHL in order to secure a place in the Round of 16 for the fourth time in their history. The issue for Liberec in the CHL this season has been goaltending, and Justin Peters will be called upon to shut the door against a high-scoring Augsburg team. Libor Hudáček has been a revelation in the CHL this season, scoring 5 goals in 4 games, and the Slovak forward will be looking to find the net once again on Tuesday.
