- Luleå still need to make sure they top group
- Belfast yet to win away this season
- Both sides looking to bounce back after domestic losses
Luleå Hockey and Belfast Giants meet for both side's final game in Group C of this season's Champions Hockey League. The Swedes are through to the Last 16 already, while for the Giants it will mark the end of their first season in the competition.
Since their meeting last weekend, Luleå were in action against two other CHL teams: 4-0 winners against Djurgården, but then went down 4-1 to Frölunda. A win will also guarantee that they win the group and go into the next round as one of the top-seeded teams.
Belfast will look to do something tonight that they’ve not managed all season so far in any competition – win away from home. The Giants, who hold the league and Challenge Cup titles in the Elite League, were 17 seconds from being eliminated from the latter on Saturday before Liam Reddox tied their game in Glasgow late on – the game was decided in a shootout. Sunday wasn’t much better however, as Belfast went down 3-1 to the Clan as well.
