Group A action of the 2021/22 Champions Hockey League season continues Friday as the Pinguins Bremerhaven make their home debut in the contest, hosting Finnish side TPS Turku in a rematch of their Game Day one fixture.

When the two sides met in Turku, goals from Stanislav Dietz and Nino Kinder, as well as a 37 save performance Brandon Maxwell were enough for Bremerhaven to secure a 2-1 victory on their CHL debut.

Things didn’t go the same way on Game Day 2 as they fell 5-0 to the Växjö Lakers, in a game where they were heavily outshot 47-21, with goalie Maximillian Franzreb having to make 42 saves in the contest. Despite the loss though, Bremerhaven come into Game Day 3 in the second spot in the group.

For Turku, they need to turn their fortunes around quickly.

Filip Sandberg found the only goal of their opening game against Bremerhaven and that came in the final minute of the game to deny a shutout.

They did manage to take a point on Game Day 2 against Sparta Prague thanks to Tyler Steenbergen tying the game at two each in the third period but ultimately fell to their second straight loss in a shootout. Turku are looking to bounce back to keep their hopes of progressing to the next round alive.
