- Cardiff Devils host Lausanne HC at Ice Arena Wales
- Cardiff were shutout in their opener in a loss to Adler Mannheim
- Lausanne had an impressive comeback to secure victory on Game Day 1.
After waiting 17 months for hockey to return to Cardiff, the fans of the Cardiff Devils get the gift of two games in a short space of time, as they host Lausanne HC on Saturday night in Champions Hockey League Group C action.
Both sides come into Saturdays game on the back of two very different results. Cardiff fell 5-0 to Adler Mannheim on Game Day 1, while Lausanne mounted a brilliant late comeback to win in overtime against Lukko Rauma.
Cardiff relied heavily on Mac Carruth in net in their opening game, with their offensive never really getting going. They’ll be hoping that Brandon McNally continues to impress though as they look to spark their offense against Lausanne, after the American forward registered two shots on target, in a game that saw the Welsh side only challenge the net nine times.
For Lausanne, they left it late, but their comeback on Game Day 1 will spark them with confidence ahead of their trip to South Wales, looking to return to Switzerland with two wins on the road.
Lukas Frick was one of the heroes of the night in Finland, his goal tied the game up in the final minute, and he assisted on Jason Fuchs’ winner in overtime, and they’ll be hoping to get their offense going against Cardiff earlier than the final five minutes of the game to make it two wins from two to open their second ever CHL campaign.
