- Frölunda can secure qualification with a point
- Helsinki need a win and favourable results to advance
- Frölunda won the first meeting 3-2
There are still two places up for grabs in Group B, and when Frölunda Gothenburg take on IFK Helsinki, they’ll both be looking to get the points necessary to move on to the Round of 16.
For defending champions Frölunda, it’s been another impressive year of Champions Hockey League action, but with one game remaining in the group, they’re not guaranteed to advance just yet.
With a good goalscoring record through five games and an impressive run of form both in the CHL and domestically as of late, coming into Tuesday's contest with six straight wins, they’re in pole position to advance to go on to defend their title.
Once again, Ryan Lasch has been the one to watch for the side, with five assists in as many games, as he gets closer to 100 all-time CHL points, while both Michael Špaček and Patrik Carlsson lead the team with three goals each.
For Helsinki, they’ll be looking to improve upon last week's loss to Frölunda, and they’ll need to to keep their qualification hopes alive. A loss on Tuesday and they are out. They need to pick up maximum points on offer and hope for either a ZSC Lions Zurich loss, or a winning margin great enough to beat Frölunda on a tie-breaker to advance themselves as the Finnish side currently sit in third place in the group.
Goalscoring hasn’t been as easy to come by for Helsinki with just nine total goals through the opening five games, something they’ll need to change on Tuesday night. They’ll also be looking to bounce back after a poor run in domestic action this weekend that saw them lose both of their games.
