- Frisk Asker falter to Red Bull Salzburg in their first game
- HC Bolzano take a shootout win against JKH GKS Jastrzębie
- This is a first time match up between the two sides
Top Norwegian side Frisk Asker suffered a tough first loss at home, going down 6-2 against Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg. Despite the four-goal differential, it was a competitive game with Frisk Asker having multiple, excellent offensive opportunities throughout the game.
Forward Hampus Gustafsson notched the first goal for the team, while Viktor Granholm scored a super slick penalty shot, but their efforts weren't enough to claw their way back into the game. Twenty penalty minutes severely hampered the team's goal-scoring ability, and Salzburg took full advantage of the extra man.
In their first game of the season, HC Bolzano battled hard against Polish side JKH GKS Jastrzębie, and managed a win on the road, taking their first victory in a nail-biting shootout.
Bolzano's Daniel Catenacci led the team with two goals, however, Jastrzębie were with them all the way. The third period was a scoreless affair for both sides, followed by a fruitless OT, and finally, a shootout was needed to settle the score.
Bolzano’s netminder Justin Fazio produced the magic between the pipes, with a couple of outstanding glove saves throughout the game, but more importantly five huge saves during the shootout. Angelo Miceli's silky mitts beat the glove of netminder Patrik Nechvátal to secure the all important first win for the Italian side.
This will be the first time that Frisk Asker and HC Bolzano face-off against each other.
