- Both sides took two points in their opening games
- Klagenfurt defeat Rouen in overtime
- Rungsted needed a shootout to beat Donetsk
We may have seen a lot of Champions Hockey League action already, but for KAC Klagenfurt and Rungsted Seier Capital, it’s just a second game when they meet in Austria on Sunday.
Both sides enter the contest on the back of opening game wins, Klagenfurt needed overtime to defeat the Rouen Dragons, while Rungsted had to go all the way to a shootout to overcome HC Donbass Donetsk, with every team in Group G finishing their opening game with at least a point.
Klagenfurt will hope for more luck in their second game. They didn’t struggle to control the game offensively but struggled to make it amount to much. Manuel Ganahl scored less than three minutes into the contest, but it took until 43 seconds into overtime to secure the win, in a game that saw them have 47 shots on goal, while only allowing 16 shots against Sebastian Dahm in their own goal.
For Rungsted they had a much closer contest against Donetsk, being outshot 30-23 in their shootout win.
Ville Kolppanen proved to be the hero for the Danish side, stopping every shot in the shoout to secure the opening game victory, and he’ll once again be one to keep an eye on in this contest.
