- Lugano have a chance to extend their point gap against Skellefteå
- Berlin need a full 60-minute effort
- Lugano look for consistency as action continues
Eisbären Berlin will skate against HC Lugano to round out Group E action.
With the doors slowly closing on Berlin's CHL campaign, the Germans will need a revitalised effort going into their Game Day 5 contest. This campaign, Berlin have struggled to muster much competitive play against their opponents and sit at the bottom of their group standings.
The German side's last tilt, a 5-3 loss against Skellefteå AIK, was a game that saw the visitors survive a three-goal deficit by scoring three of their own in the second, only to watch the victory slip away.
Heading into their match-up with Lugano, Berlin’s Matthew White and Giovanni Fiore will be in the spotlight as the German's will look to put in a full 60-minute effort and secure their first victory.
For their part, Lugano are hoping to extend the gap between them and Skellefteå with the two teams separated by a single point in the standings. So far, the Swiss side's campaign has been equal parts domination - a 5-1 decision against Skellefteå in their first meeting - and disappointment - a 3-2 overtime loss to Tappara Tampere.
Consistency will be Lugano’s focus as they travel to Berlin for the first of this home-at-home series. To achieve this, the visitors will be relying on their leading scorers, Daniel Carr, Luca Fazzini, and Mark Arcobello. Carr and Arcobello each sport seven points while Fazzini has accrued six in four games played.
Overcoming Tappara is not impossible for the Swiss side, however, and their climb starts with getting good results against a hungry Berlin club.
