- Lukko Rauma can secure their place in the Playoffs with a win and a favourable result between Mannheim and Lausanne
- Cardiff Devils travel to Finland for the first time in the CHL
- Cardiff are bottom of the group, but not out of contention yet
If results go their way, Wednesday night could see Finnish side Lukko Rauma progress to the Round of 16, while the Cardiff Devils will also hope for favourable results to get out of Game Day 5 still in contention to become just the second-ever side from the UK to make it to the next round in the Champions Hockey League.
Lukko are second in Group D after the opening four games, and if they can win in regulation, and Adler Mannheim defeat Lausanne HC that will secure passage through to the next round for both sides. However, the Finnish side will be aware that their opponents are also hungry to not fall out of contention and will be pushing them the entire way to try and keep the pressure on the rest of the group heading into Game Day 6.
Led by Sebastian Repo up top, Lukko have done well sharing the points spread among their players in the CHL so far, with Repo leading with five points, while eight of their forwards and two defenseman have more than one point so far through four games, and it's that depth in scoring that they will hope to utilise when they host Cardiff in the Kivikylän Areena.
For Cardiff, they had a good run through the first four games, especially against Lausanne. At home they secured a big 4-1 win against the Swiss side, before coming out on the losing end in a close battle between the two sides which saw Lausanne take a narrow 2-0 win.
Since their domestic season has begun though, they have hit the ground running, and will hope that forward Brodie Reid can replicate his scoring touch on the European stage as they look to return from Finland with points to keep their qualification dreams alive.
