- Munich and SønderjyskE both sat outside the qualification spots
- Munich enjoyed a 5-1 victory in the first meeting between the sides
- SønderjyskE need a turnaround after a 10-1 loss to Zug on Gameday 2
It will be a rematch of Game Day 1 as Red Bull Munich of Germany begin their two game home stand against Danish side SønderjyskE Vojens.
Munich got the better of SønderjyskE in the Game Day 1 meeting between the sides, Former Champions Hockey League MVP Trevor Parkes led the charge with three points on the night, and Danny aus den Birken was only beaten once on 20 shots for a 5-1 victory.
Following their opening game win, they played out a much closer affair in a trip to Sweden to take on CHL debutants Rögle Ängleholm.
Munich held a narrow lead heading into the second period, thanks to a two-point night by Ben Street who opened the scoring in the first period and also added an assist in the second as Munich led 3-2 heading into the final 20 minutes, but two goals in the final minute for Rögle, just 14 seconds apart saw the result turned on it's head, condemning Munich to their first loss of the campaign.
For SønderjyskE, they've not enjoyed a great start to the new CHL season. Following their opening game loss to Munich that saw Matt Salhany score the only goal of the game for the hosts in that game, they had an even tougher time on Game Day 2.
This time they couldn't find their way to the back of the net as they hosted Swiss side EV Zug, but saw their guests storm to an early 4-0 lead in the first period, and an eventual 10-0 final score.
With a difficult start to the season, SønderjyskE need a much better showing and better fortune on their road trip for their opening game rematches.
