- Rungsted won in an OT shootout last time around
- Both teams 2-1 in the CHL so far this season
- Both teams lost on Thursday
Rungsted Seier Capital and HC Donbass Donetsk lock horns for the second time in the Champions Hockey League this season. Rungsted won in an OT shootout last time around and after three games played, both teams are in a very similar position in the Group G standings, making this game a big opportunity to pick up points for both sides.
Both the Danes and the Ukrainians are 2-1 in the CHL so far this season, as Donbass sit third in the group standings with four points, whilst Rungsted are last with three points.
Stat and play-wise, these are two evenly matched teams, which is probably why their first meeting was so close. Donbass have scored seven goals so far this season, which is one more than Rungsted. The five-time Danish champions have won the same number of face-offs as the Ukrainians and both teams are also inseparable in terms of powerplay goals against (three apiece) and penalty kill percentage (80% for Donbass to Rungsted’s 83.3%).
One aspect where Rungsted have a slight advantage is scoring on the powerplay – the two-time CHL participants have scored four, whilst Donbass have only managed two, despite having more powerplay chances.
All in all, this will be another close game as both sides will be eager to pick up valuable points now that we’re entering the second half of the Group Stage.
