SønderjyskE Vojens have consistently been one of the best teams in Denmark and have won the Danish championship six times throughout their history. They qualified for 2021/22 as the last IIHF Continental Cup Champions and join fellow countrymen Rungsted Seier Capital as the only representatives of Denmark this season.

Canadian-Italian Head Coach Mario Simioni is in his fourth consecutive season in charge and seems to have stabilised his squad. He made only two acquisitions over the course of the off-season, signing 25-year-old Swede Anton Öhman and ex-AHL forward Shawn O'Donnell.

SønderjyskE have participated in two previous CHL seasons but have had a hard time in the competition, winning just two games over the course of both seasons. The 2021/22 Group Stage draw was harsh to the Danes – they were drawn into one of the toughest groups of the season and their hopes of making it out of the group stage look to have taken a major hit.

But they have nothing to lose and can only surprise us with their performances.

Red Bull Munich have gotten used to a tough draw in the CHL, the five-time participants have been around the block and know what to expect and what they need to do to win.

The German side have won their group three times and have never missed out on the playoffs. Their biggest success in the CHL was making the 2018 Final and facing off against Frölunda Gothenburg.

Under the leadership of charismatic Head Coach Don Jackson Munich have won three DEL championships and made a name for themselves as one of the strongest teams in Germany. Over the course of the last seven DEL seasons, they have never finished outside the regular season top two!

Despite failing to win the championship last season, Munich enter the CHL in traditional form and as clear favourites in this tie. They’ve had to deal with a few player exits during the off-season, but have strengthened with the signing of 18-year-old youngster Sebastian Cimmerman from the junior team of Red Bull Salzburg and ex-NHL player Ben Street.
