- Rögle with a one goal advantage heading into the Return Leg
- Samuel Jonsson's goal with 32 seconds remaining is the only difference between the sides
- Zurich will need a better penalty kill after giving up three powerplay goals last week
With just one game to book your place in the next round, it’s set for a tight finish between Rögle Ängelholm and ZSC Lions Zurich when the two sides meet on Tuesday night.
Last week in Switzerland, it was the visitors Rögle who left with the advantage, and that advantage came in dramatic fashion.
With the first game looking destined to end in a tie, Samuel Jonsson’s goal with just 32 seconds remaining secured a 4-3 win for the Swedish side ahead of the Return Game.
Overall, it was a pretty even opening contest, the only real difference came through special teams.
Rögle were perfect on the night, keeping their penalty minutes down but killing each of the two penalties they took, while their powerplay enjoyed a brilliant night, scoring three of the team's four goals on a man advantage, for a 75% efficiency on the evening.
Both sides attempted 54 shots, with Zurich edging the amount that actually went towards net with 34 to Rögle’s 29, so if the return game is anything like the first game, then it should be grandstand finish in in the Catena Arena.
