- Tappara have already advanced but can secure top spot
- Skellefteå are still to book their place, but can do so with a win
- Skellefteå took a big 6-1 victory in the first meeting between the sides
Tappara Tampere have already secured qualification into the Round of 16, but after a tough loss on Game Day 5 against Skellefteå AIK, they’ll be hoping to put that behind them as Tappara battle for top spot, and Skellefteå battle to advance themselves.
In the first meeting, Skellefteå took a commanding 6-1 victory that saw them edge ahead in the race to join Tappara in the Round of 16. Depending on other results, just a point could be enough for them to advance, but a win in regulation would see them through and see them go top.
Joakim Lindström and Adam Mascherin have been the two stars for Skellefteå and two stars of the whole competition, with seven points to their names each, while defenceman Oskar Nilsson has been one of the standout defensemen in this year's CHL with seven points of his own.
For Tappara, they’ll hope their return to home ice sees them bounce back in a big way following last week's huge loss.
They never really got anything going in the game, and while they have already booked their place in the next round, top spot is still up for grabs so that’s what they have their eye on.
Similarly to the three players with seven points for Skelleteå, Kristian Kuusela has been one of the premier playmakers in this year's tournament with seven assists to his name, and he’ll be looking to the rest of the forwards to finish off the plays he sets up to try and end the Group Stage with a win.
