- Zurich could still qualify without a win depending on results
- Mladá Boleslav still looking for first win of the competition
- Zurich won the first meeting 1-0 last week
ZSC Lions Zurich can book their place in the Round of 16 in Group B, but they’ll be aware that BK Mladá Boleslav, while out of contention, will pose a threat as they look to end the 2021/22 Champions Hockey League Group Stage strong.
When the two sides met last week, it was a cagey affair, as Zurich took a narrow 1-0 victory away from home, but as they return to home ice with a chance to qualify they’ll be looking for another win, but in more convincing style.
They’ll need to take care of their own business in order to progress, with a win in regulation being enough to keep them ahead of IFK Helsinki regardless of their result and secure their place, but a regulation win, or any sort of loss might still be enough for them depending on other results.
While they face an opponent still searching for their first win, Zurich will need to find a bit more of a scoring touch to try and make this an easier night for them, so they’ll hope to continue their domestic form from this weekend that saw them score seven goals in two games.
For Mladá Boleslav, it’s a search for their first win of the competition. They did secure a point earlier in the Group Stage, with an overtime loss to Helsinki, but after an impressive defensive display last week against Zurich, they’ll hope for more of the same with a bit more offense to avoid going winless this year.
They had a great defensive display again in domestic action this weekend, shutting out their opponents all weekend long, and with seven goals for, things are pointing in the right direction for them to continue that form into Tuesdays contest.
