- Grenoble's last two games decided by one-goal margins
- Berlin beat Grenoble 8-2 on Game Day 1
Berlin 1 win so far this season, Grenoble 0
So far, it's been a tough season for back-to-back DEL champions Eisbären Berlin. Despite starting with a hefty 8-2 win over Grenoble on Game Day 1, the Germans then went on to lose two times to four-time Champions Hockey League winners Frölunda Gothenburg - a big 7-1 loss on Game Day 1, followed by a very close 3-2 final on Thursday evening.
Their most recent game saw them refocus and properly challenge the Swedes with Marco Baßler and Matthew White both getting on the scoresheet. Heading into the final minute of the game the score was locked 2-2 but a late Ryan Lasch goal slashed Berlin's hopes of securing any points. But overall a very good, sturdy performance from the Germans - if they continue like this against Grenoble, they could take their second win of the season.
Grenoble have had a 0-3 start to their season which can be expected given the elite level teams in Group G. Following their 8-2 loss to Berlin at the very start of their 2022/23 campaign, the French side played two tight contests against Czech Extraliga regular season winners Mountfield HK with both games being decided by only a single goal.
Leading the team so far are Sacha Treille and Dylan Fabre who are each on three points. To stand a chance against Berlin, Grenoble will have to buckle down and be more prolific on the scoring.
