- Davos to play first match at home
- Belfast yet to win in their 2nd CHL season
- This is the second meeting of both teams from Group H
HC Davos are set to host the Belfast Giants for their second face-off after taking a commanding 6-3 win last Friday.
Despite a tough fight from the home team, Davos proved more resilient, with Belfast failing to maximize on all eight powerplays during the match. Tempers seemed to have flared on both sides throughout their debut match, with roughing penalties called on Belfast’s Ben Lake and Davos’ Matej Stránsky. It seems as though that time in the box may have helped Stránksy find focus, as he went on to score his second powerplay goal at 32:01 as soon as he returned to the ice.
Davos are currently enjoying a 2-0 winning streak in their 4th CHL season and show no signs of slowing down. As for Belfast, they are yet to capture a win and will need to step things up if they plan on getting further in the tournament.
In a post-game interview, Belfast’s Head Coach Adam Keefe had this reflection: “I was very happy with our performance five-on-five, but unhappy with our discipline. We definitely need to learn our lesson, as we spent way too much time on the penalty kill when we could have been attacking.”
Will Belfast take note and come ready for redemption or will Davos hold onto their hot streak? Stay tuned to find out!
