- Slovan heads back to the CHL for the second time after taking home their national title
- Tappara, also national champions are back for their seventh CHL appearance
- This match will be the first time both teams face off
Despite Slovan’s tough CHL debut, the team managed to score big back home, becoming national champions for the first time since 2012. Head coach Ján Pardavy speaks out, saying “we are ready to face the truth that we will not be the favorites in any of the Group Stage games, so every point we possibly get will count.”
When asked about other teams in the group, Pardavy had this to say about Tampere: “For me personally, they are one of the major favorites for winning the European Trophy this year.” If Slovan wishes to continue the winning streak they had back home, they’re going to have their work cut out for them.
As for Tappara Tampere, success has followed them both at home and abroad. They were runners-up at last season’s CHL and 2022 National Champions as well. Their head coach, Jussi Tapola states “I think we are playing in the toughest group in this season of the CHL. It will be a great challenge to finish in the top two.”
In regard to Slovan, Tapola has referred to them as “an experienced team, we have to be effective in our scoring chances.”
