- Belfast are sole professional hockey club in Ireland
- Davos back after four-year absence in CHL
- This will be the 4th match of Group H
Coming off a challenging 4:0 defeat by Ocelaři Třinec as they kick off their second CHL season, the Belfast Giants head home to host HC Davos.
Belfast have managed to do quite well for themselves on home ice, snatching up six EIHL titles, most recently in 2019 and 2022. If they want to do the same as they move through the CHL, they will need to capitalize on their home advantage against Davos and focus on taking more shots.
Belfast's Head Coach, Adam Keefe, had this to say when commenting on his team’s upcoming match against Davos: “we are fully aware that HC Davos are a strong force in the CHL and being one of Switzerland’s most popular hockey clubs, we’re expecting a large fan following to come alongside a fast-paced hockey performance.”
As for Davos, the veteran Swiss team have stacked up thirty one Swiss titles, but time is quickly passing since their last win in 2015. Their recent win against Skellefteå AIK 3:2 has given them a confident start to their fourth CHL season.
When Christian Wohlwend, Head Coach for Davos, was asked about his team facing off Ireland’s sole professional ice hockey team, he had this to share: “Belfast are what many experts would call the underdog. We will not underestimate the Giants in any case and will press the gas pedal from the beginning.”
