- Luleå qualified for Playoffs and confirmed as top place finisher in Group A
- This will be Aalborg's last game of the season
- Luleå beat Aalborg 3-1 last week
In this final Group Stage game for both clubs, Luleå Hockey of Sweden will be looking to add another win to their otherwise perfect record, whilst Danish club the Aalborg Pirates will be looking to end their second season in the Champions Hockey League on a positive note.
Luleå have been flawless so far this season, winning all five of their games and picking up a maximum possible 15 points. Their excellent performances secured them a place in the final 16 as one of the first teams in the CHL. The 2015 CHL Champions have shown character, strength and resilience in their games and will be a strong opponent in the upcoming Playoffs.
The Swedes have scored a whopping 20 goals, while only letting 10 hit the back of their net, and have been strong in other statistics as well. Isac Brännström leads Luleå on goals (4G) and total points (4G, 4A) and is still in the fresh memory of fans for his wonderful hattrick scored on Game Day 3 against Jukurit Mikkeli.
Aalborg will have to defend well and control the game if they are to deny Luleå their sixth win of the season. The Danes enter the game with a 1-4 record having only beaten Czech side Sparta Prague this season. They've scored nine goals in five games while suffering 19 to their opponents. Somewhat surprisingly, the Danes sit on the exact same powerplay % of 18%, and have a similar penalty kill success rate of 80-ish%.
The Danes are confirmed to miss the Playoffs but it's all about ending on a high note for them - just how high dependent on their performance against five-time CHL participants Luleå.
