- Luleå Hockey lead Group A with nine points
- Sparta have narrowly lost two games, both by a single goal
- A win by Sparta in regular time will close the gap to a three point deficit
Unbeaten Luleå Hockey will take on Sparta Prague at home to kick off the festivities of Game Day 4. To date, the Swedish side have taken down Finnish rivals Jukurit Mikkeli, 5-2 in their first game, and more recently 4-3 in their second match. The Swedes also got the upper hand over Sparta on Game Day 2, when they took the hosts 3-2 on the road.
Forward Isac Brännström has been Luleå's main scoring machine notching seven points (3G, 4A) in three games. Teammates Einar Emanuelsson (2G, 4A) and Finnish forward Juhani Tyrväinen (2G, 3A) have also been significant contributors with six and five points respectively. Netminding duties have been mainly filled by Matteus Ward who has a save percentage of 87.50 after 120 minutes, while teammate Joel Lassinantti posts 88.89 after 60 minutes.
In comparison, Sparta experienced a rockier start to their season. Danish rivals, the Aalborg Pirates took Sparta in their first game 3-2, and Swedish side Luleå would repeat the 3-2 score to take the second game. The Czechs came back stronger on Game Day 3 with a vital 6-2 win over Aalborg.
Michal Řepík, who is in his third season with Sparta, has been outstanding with seven points (4G, 3A) over three games. Vladimír Sobotka has also been an important playmaker, tallying four points (1G, 3A) over three appearances. Netminder Josef Kořenář has clocked 119 minutes so far, while teammate Jakub Kovář has picked up the remaining minutes. Both have been reliable between the pipes with save percentages of 91.67 and 90.91 respectively.
With Luleå's netminding looking like a possible chink in their armour, Sparta will be looking to capitalise on that vulnerability with a truck load of high-quality shots on. But it won't be easy, and Sparta's defence will undoubtedly have their hands full trying to contain the firepower of Luleå's top forwards.
