- Mountfield to host Grenoble
- Grenoble trail with two losses
- Mountfield's Jérémie Blain scored 2G in previous match
Grenoble and Mountfield HK gear up to meet for their second time on the ice, this time in the Czech Republic, giving Mountfield the home advantage.
In their first meeting, Mountfield defeated Grenoble with a final score of 4:3 after a tough back-and-forth match in France.
Mountfield’s Jakub Lev opened up the scoring just nine seconds in, but Grenoble would go on to lead in the first period 2:1. Despite a strong start, Grenoble would only score once more, while Mountfield’s Jérémie Blain scored two more goals and Radek Smolenák got the last one in the net, securing the win for the away team.
In the forthcoming match, Grenoble would benefit from pumping up their shots, as they trailed behind Mountfield with 54-35 on shots taken. In turn, Mountfield will need to improve their save percentage, as they fell slightly behind Grenoble’s 88%.
Mountfield’s Head Coach Tomáš Martinec had this to say when commenting about other teams in Group G: “Grenoble are one of the best teams in France. They have qualified for the CHL for the third time and again as the league champions.”
As for Grenoble, their Head Coach Jyrki Aho shared this sentiment: “Mounfield have a technical game, the level of the Czech championship is very high, and there are many former NHL players playing.”
If one thing’s for sure, this next match won’t be an easy feat for either team - Grenoble will surely fight to get their first win and Mountfield will have their eyes set on securing their second.
Be sure to catch their second face-off!
