- Rögle quickly recovered in comeback win in Game Day 1 affair
- Katowice are coming off disappointing loss to Zurich
- Maintaining dominant play is key for Rogle to stave off potential upset
GKS Katowice entered Thursday’s contest as the victor in their previous match against ZSC Lions Zurich, but things would turn out radically different when they traveled to Switzerland as they fell 5-1 to the Swiss side. Rögle Ängelholm, however, continued their pursuit of a perfect Group Stage record, scoring first for the first time this season en route to putting seven past Fehérvár AV19.
In their last meeting, the Polish side took the defending Champions by surprise, scoring four and nearly succeeding in completing the upset. Katowice kept pace as Bartosz Fraszko and Grzegorz Pasiut headlined an attack that managed to disrupt the Swedes' defence and solve Calle Clang multiple times.
With a rematch in Ängelholm on the horizon, the Poles will need to regain the rhythm that saw them one period away from pulling off a monumental win against the Swedish side. That means playing hard on the puck, playing the physical game, and creating more traffic in the offensive zone.
Despite their slow start in Katowice, Rögle quickly recovered their effort in the third and went on to win in dramatic fashion. Now on home ice, the Swedish side will need to continue buying into their system and that system begins with Marco Kasper (2G,2A) and Riley Sheen (3G,1A) and ends with Calle Clang who has been lights out for the Swedes accruing a 2.50 GAA through two games.
