- Munich executed dramatic OT comeback win in last game
- Slovan still winless through three contests
- Scorers are at a premium
Red Bull Munich continued their winning ways with a 5-4 comeback victory in OT against the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers while Slovan Bratislava are still searching for their first win, dropping their bid against Tappara Tampere 2-0.
Munich didn’t need any OT dramatics in their first game against Slovan, though they were tested by the Slovaks. While the German side was the first to strike, the home side managed to tie it up in the second and it wouldn’t be until the third period that Munich finally started to find their legs. Now with home ice advantage, it’ll be up to the Germans to push the pace and roll all four lines to create a sustained offensive attack.
For Slovan, the recipe for success is a little more complicated. The Slovakian side has yet to take any points in the Group Stage and their chances are dwindling with another tough match-up on tap. So far through three games, only three skaters have a goal to their credit.
The club are finding it even harder to score without their lead scorer in Brant Harris, who hasn’t played a match yet this season, while William Rapuzzi, who finished three points below Harris in their domestic league, has only managed to find the net once.
These scoring woes coupled with inconsistent play are what Slovan need to avoid as they try to climb their way out of the bottom of the Group and into Playoff position.
