- Finding ways to score will be key for Tappara
- Rouen need a more consistent defensive effort
- Could be a bounce-back game for both clubs
The 0-2 Rouen Dragons will take on 1-1 Tappara Tampere in the clubs' first meeting since their clash in the Quarter-Finals of the 2021/22 season where Tappara took down the French to advance.
Rouen have had a problem with consistency so far this season. Their first contest against KAC Klagenfurt saw the French side go down 3-0 at one point before they were finally able to find the net. Then Rouen saw a 3-1 lead disappear to Oceláři Třinec as they would eventually fall 5-3. Both losses came at the price of inconsistent defensive efforts that have the French tied for second-worst in goals against per game with 4.50. If Rouen are to have success against Tappara, their first priority should be to improve their play without the puck.
The Finns followed up their 2-1 shootout win over Sparta Prague with a 5-1 defeat to Dynamo Pardubice. In that match-up, Tappara were unprepared for the relentless pressure brought on by Pardubice's forecheck. On the offensive side of things, the visitors were only able to muster one goal and were dominated in shot totals, 27-18. Looking ahead to Rouen, Tappara would do well to find ways to solve their scoring deficiencies as they are among the league worst in goals for per game with 1.50.
This looks to be a bounce-back game for both on the heels of two disappointing losses for the clubs.
