- Skellefteå in a Playoffs position
- Fehérvár's main difficulty has been finding the net
- The Hungarians have yet to secure a win
Skellefteå AIK enter their contest against Fehérvár AV19 with a 2-2 record following their 3-2 loss to the Sheffield Steelers on Game Day 4. Meanwhile, the Hungarians have yet to secure a win this season, with their most recent defeat a 3-1 decision against Lausanne HC.
It was a close contest in the early going between the Swedes and the British, as Sheffield managed to score twice in the opening frame before Skellefteå answered with two of their own in a four-goal first period.
But their lack of quality scoring chances - they managed just two high-danger opportunities compared to Sheffield's nine - and inability to sustain an offensive zone presence resulted in the Swedish side still clinging to seven points and 12th place in the standings going forward.
As they prepare for their match-up against 0-4 Fehérvár, Skellefteå would do well to focus on improving their special teams numbers as the Swedes are currently sitting in 17th place in powerplay conversion with 14.29%.
Their Hungarian challengers have been having a rough go so far, amassing zero wins and scoring a league-worst 1.00 goals for per game, having scored one goal or less in three out of their four outings. In their match-up against Lausanne, Fehérvár's lone goal came courtesy of Csanád Erdély's only tally of the competition.
If they're to secure their first win, the ICE team will need to find ways to convert on their chances. Despite strong starts, Skellefteå have been guilty of giving up leads this season. Consequently, the Hungarians have a chance to exploit this weakness and come away with their first win.
